Purpose: Collagen supplements are rising in the market as collagen has been demonstrated to be an important protein in the human aging process. Also, it is safe and easily absorbed in the body. Hence the aim of this study was to examine the effectiveness and safety of a collagen and antioxidant-rich treatment compared to a placebo in relation to various skin and hair indicators in healthy adult human subjects. Patients and Methods: Forty healthy adult non-pregnant/non-lactating women (aged 38-50 years) provided their informed consent in writing before their participation. Skin Radiance Collagen (SRC) treatment and a placebo were assessed for efficacy before application on Day 1, and post-application on Days 28 and 56, to measure changes in skin elasticity, hydration, brightness, pigmentation; texture, wrinkles, dryness, smoothness, fine lines, changes in the crow's feet region; as well as hair strength and hair fall. Results: It was observed after 56 days that therapy with SRC, compared to placebo, produced a substantial effect on reduction of wrinkle depth and fine lines by 48.11% and 39%, respectively, with p-value <0.01 in the test group. There was a 15.69% improvement in skin hydration observed and 28% reduction in hair fall with p-value <0.01. Conclusion: SRC, a combination of collagen with hyaluronic acid (HA), biotin, and vitamins C and E, showed a significant improvement in skin and hair health, including improvements in skin elasticity, skin hydration, reduction in crow's feet area wrinkles and fine lines, hair fall, and decrease in roughness, leading to improved skin texture. Vitamin C in the formulation also acts as a collagen builder for the body and helps in preventing oxidative stress in the body. The test treatment SRC was found to be efficacious and safe in healthy human adult subjects.

In the present study, the natural biosorption capacity of Acacia nilotica sawdust (wood biomass) was studied for the removal of copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn) heavy metal ions. The process was optimized for several important factors such as pH, contact time, biomass amount, and metal ion concentration. The maximum biosorption of Zn onto Acacia nilotica sawdust was 66.092% at pH 7.0, contact time 20 min, biomass concentration 0.4 g, and initial Zn concentration 8.4 mg/L. The maximum Cu biosorption to Acacia nilotica sawdust was 66.097% at pH 4, contact time 45 min, biomass 0.8 g, initial metal ion concentration 27 mg/L. The experimental data were analyzed by two different adsorption isotherms i.e. Langmuir and Freundlich models. Based on the regression coefficient the Freundlich isotherm model showed the best fit for Zn whereas Cu metal ion adsorption gave a favorable fit for Langmuir isotherm. Both metal ions followed pseudo-second-order kinetics in the adsorption process using sawdust of Acacia nilotica.

Bioleaching is one of the well-known methods of metal recovery with Environmental benefits. This process has been extensively used for combating improper waste management issues along with metal reclamation. The aim of this study is to bioleach spent petroleum refinery catalyst at variant pulp densities (PD) (5, 10 and 15%) using microorganisms in acidic pH (1.5-1.6) and mesophilic temperature (30-35 °C). The study includes leaching yields of metals like nickel, molybdenum, copper and aluminum. The three bioleaching experiments with different pulp densities yielded a maximum of more than 90% nickel, 73% copper, 87% molybdenum and 24% aluminum. The results are validated 5, 10, and 15% pulp density and the result is validated with pH, Redox potential, microbial population, sulphate concentration and ferrous iron, concentration. The time saving due to faster nickel dissolution using iron and sulphur oxidizing microorganisms would be economical for the bioleaching process.

The study reports the effect of increasing pulp density on the bio-catalyzed leaching of metals from waste mobile phone printed circuit boards. Mixed microbial consortia of iron and sulfur-oxidizing microorganisms were used for batch bioleaching at varying pulp density of 7%, 10% and 15% (w/v). The copper content in the feed material was 26.3% (w/w) and the prime focus was to recover maximum copper along with other minor metals, such as zinc, aluminum, and nickel. All the bioleaching experiments resulted with 98-99% of copper recovery together with reasonable extraction Zn, Al, and Ni. The optimum copper recovery from bioleaching experiments demonstrates the possibility of scaling up with high pulp density, which could be economical as well as eco-friendly.
